Property Description:

This property attempts to define the type of cursor that is used when the pointing device is placed over the element. It accepts a comma-separated list of values. Browsers should attempts to first use the cursor type indicated on the left, then work their way to the right until a recognized cursor can be used.

  • auto default - Depends on the situation.
  • crosshair - Usually resembles a thin plus ( + ) sign.
  • pointer - Used to indicate a hyperlink or an active link. Usually a pointing hand.
  • move - Used to indicate a movable element. Usually a four-way arrow.
  • text - Used to indicate selectable text. Usually an I-beam.
  • wait - A time indicator. Usually an hourglass or timer.
  • progress - Indicates that a process is taking place in the background, but should not effect interaction with the UI. Commonly an arrow with an hourglass next to it.
  • help - Used to indicate that help is available for that particular element. Usually appears as a question mark or a baloon.
  • e-resize / ne-resize / nw-resize / n-resize / se-resize / sw-resize / s-resize / w-resize - Motion/resize arrow icons. Each value represents a different direction.
  • default - Uses the browser's default cursor, usually an arrow.
  • inherit - Explicitly sets the value of the cursor to that of the parent element.
